This was my first time using a mixer for mashed potatoes, and the result was amazing- creamy and smooth potatoes. I’ll never use a hand masher again. Thanks for the tip!

In reply to Carolyn. It can if you're over-mixing them. The key is to mix just until they're smooth and creamy. A stand mixer can work well if used on a low setting and for a short duration.

My favorite mashed potatoes. I doubled the white pepper & salt, and I just let my mixer whip it forever until it’s at my desired consistency, almost like soft serve ice cream! Love this method!
