Air Fryer Chicken Tenders – crispy, golden, and ready in 30 minutes. No oil splatter, no deep fryer, just pure crunchy perfection.

The Best Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
Let’s be real, if it wasn’t for the judging stares, I’d still order chicken tenders off the kids’ menu. Every. Single. Time. There’s just something about that crispy coating and dunk-it-in-anything vibe that never gets old.
The good news? I don’t need a kids’ menu or a deep fryer anymore. I’ve been air frying these babies for years, and they’re just as crunchy and golden as the real deal, without turning my kitchen into a grease-slick crime scene.
These tenders have been a weeknight lifesaver more times than I can count. Whether I’m cooking for picky eaters, throwing together a quick lunch, or just craving something crispy and nostalgic… this is the recipe I reach for.

Why You’ll Love These Chicken Tenders
- Crispy, crunchy, no fryer in sight. That golden coating? All air fryer. Zero deep frying drama or oil splatter to clean up.
- Ready in 30 minutes. Start to finish, done before your oven would even preheat for “real” fried chicken.
- Freezer-friendly and meal-prep approved. Make a double batch now, thank yourself later. These reheat like champs.
- Customizable AF. Swap the seasoning, go spicy, add parmesan, make them your own and never get bored.
- Kids love them. Grown-ups fight for seconds. Let’s not pretend these are just for the kids. They vanish fast, no matter who’s at the table.

How To Serve
These tenders are total chameleons, serve them up with a pile of fries for the full kid-menu energy, or dress them up with a killer salad and call it dinner. Here are some of my go-to combos:
Parmesan Garlic Roasted Potatoes
Baked Mac And Cheese
Lemon Orzo with Asparagus
Creamy Cucumber Salad
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use chicken breasts instead of tenders?
Totally. Just slice them into even strips so they cook at the same rate. Pro tip: slightly thicker = juicier.
How do I get them super crispy?
Panko breadcrumbs and a light mist of cooking spray are your best friends here. And don’t crowd the basket, air needs to circulate for that crunch.
Can I season the breadcrumbs differently?
Yes, and you should! Cajun, lemon pepper, ranch seasoning, even parmesan, go wild. It’s your tender party.
What dipping sauce works best?
Ranch is the classic, but honey mustard, sweet chili, BBQ, tzatziki, basically anything you wouldn’t judge yourself for eating with a spoon.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Yep. Cook them, cool them, then refrigerate or freeze. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F until hot and crispy again.
Can I freeze them uncooked?
Yes! Line them on a tray, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Cook straight from frozen, 375°F for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway.
Do I need to flip them in the air fryer?
Yes, halfway through cooking. It’s the secret to golden, even crisp on both sides. Don’t skip it.
Storage
- Fridge: Store any leftovers in an airtight container or zip-top bag for 3–4 days. They’ll stay crispy-ish, which is why…
- Reheat like this: Pop them back in the air fryer at 350°F for about 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Boom, crispy again, no microwave sogginess.
- Freezer: These freeze like a dream. You can freeze them cooked or uncooked, just line them up on a tray, freeze until solid, then stash in a freezer bag.
- To cook from frozen: Uncooked: Air fry at 375°F for 25–30 minutes. Cooked: Air fry at 390°F for 10–15 minutes. Flip halfway either way.

- 1 pound chicken tenders

Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400℉. Grab 3 shallow plates. Mix the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in one of the plates. Beat the eggs in the second plate, and add the flour to the third plate.
- Coat each tender in flour, then the beaten egg, and finally the breadcrumb mixture.
- Add the tenders to the air fryer basket and lightly spray them with cooking spray. Cook for 8 minutes, flip the tenders, spray with cooking spray, and cook for another 7 minutes or until golden brown. You might have to do this in batches if you can’t fit all the chicken in one go.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Equipment
Notes
- Breadcrumb tip: Panko gives you that extra crunch. Regular works too, but panko wins the texture game.
- Season your way. Feel free to mix in chili powder, paprika, or grated parmesan to change things up.
- No tenders? No problem. Just slice chicken breasts into strips, same great taste, slightly DIY shape.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. Cook in batches if needed for maximum crisp and even cooking.
- Leftovers make amazing wraps. Slice ’em up, toss into a wrap with some slaw and sauce, trust me.
